Your privacy
Last updated 31 October 2026.
We never ask for your name, your email address or any way to contact you, and you never need an account. To design your trips we only need the trip itself: who's going, when, from where, your budget and the feelings you chose. This page sets out what happens to those details, who helps us with them, and how long anything is kept.
What we collect
When you use the trip builder, you give us:
- the feelings you chose;
- who's travelling: the number of adults, the ages of any children, and how many bedrooms you'd like;
- your start date and how many nights;
- the airport you'd fly from;
- your rough budget;
- a place, if you named one;
- anything you typed in the "Anything we should know?" box.
Please don't put names or other personal details in that box. We don't need them, and everything you type there is sent to the services that help design your trip.
From those details we design three trip ideas. If you choose one, we build your full trip: the route, the places to stay, the travel between them and the costs.
Who can see your trip
Your full trip lives at its own link, made from a long string of random characters that nobody could guess. Anyone who has that link can open your trip, so share it only with people you'd like to see it.
How long we keep it
We keep each trip until a week after you're home: your start date, plus your nights, plus seven days. After that, our nightly clean-up deletes it, and its link stops working.
The three trip ideas you were shown, and our record of your search, are kept for 30 days, or until the last trip you built from them is deleted, whichever is later.
The services we use
We use a small number of AI and photo services to design, research, write and illustrate your trip, and one service for our email. The AI and photo services receive trip details only. None of them receives your name or contact details, because we never have them, and none of the three AI services uses what we send to train its models.
| Service | What it does for us | What it receives | How long it keeps it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Gemini | Designs your three trip ideas | Your trip details | Up to 55 days for safety checks, and 30 days more because the design uses Google Search |
| OpenAI | Searches the web for real operators and their prices | The details of one part of your trip: the place, the dates, the length, who's going and the budget for it | Up to 30 days for safety checks |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Writes your trip and checks the operators found | Your trip details and the trip designed | Deleted within 30 days, unless flagged for a safety review |
| OpenAI | Creates the illustrations | A description of each place, drawn from your trip's writing | Up to 30 days for safety checks |
| Pexels, Unsplash and Google Places | Supply photographs | A place name and one theme word | Not stated. Google may use search words to improve its products |
| Namecheap | Hosts our email at hello@smalladventures.travel | Any email you send us, and the address it comes from | Until we delete it |
The illustrations in your trip are created for it by OpenAI. They show the character of each place, and may differ from the real view in their details.
Where it's stored, and our logs
Our website runs in the UK, on Vercel. The trips it builds, and their photographs, are stored by Vercel in the United States. Photographs are copied into that storage when your trip is built, so your trip page doesn't fetch anything from other websites while you read it.
Like any website, ours keeps technical logs, so we can spot and fix faults. They're held by Axiom for 30 days and then deleted. Visitors' internet addresses are hidden from these logs, so nothing in them links a visit to a person.
Most of the services on this page, including where your trip is stored, are based in the United States.
Cookies, tracking and the links in your trip
We don't use cookies. There's no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind on our site, and nothing is saved in your browser.
Your trip links to Booking.com, Airbnb, Skyscanner, Google and the operators' own websites, so you can see live prices and book. These are plain searches and addresses. They carry no affiliate codes or tracking, and we earn no commission when you book. Once you click through, that site's own privacy policy applies, and it can see that you arrived from our website.
Your choices
We use your trip details for one thing: designing the trip you asked for.
If you'd like your trip deleted sooner, or want to know what we hold, email your trip link to hello@smalladventures.travel. Because we never take your name or email address, your trip link is the only way we can find your trip. We'll delete it and confirm by reply, and we use your email address only to answer you.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
